Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy For All the Changes of Life

What is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy?

After age 35 a woman's progesterone level can begin to quickly decline, then in their 40s estrogen follows. When these hormones start to fluctuate is when women begin to feel the symptoms related to perimenopause and menopause. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is the replacement of hormones, via many different routes, that are molecularly identical to what your body is used to producing and metabolizing.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement

Women spend a 1/3 of their life in menopause, you don’t have to suffer through it! We will work together to get you through those pesky perimenopausal years (could last up to 10 years!) and maintain optimal hormone balance postmenopausal through bioidentical hormone replacement therapy as opposed to synthetic treatment options.

Bioidentical Hormone Pellets

One route of delivery for testosterone and estradiol are pellets. Pellets are compressed hormones that consist of either estrogen and/or testosterone. There is a small incision made to the top outer quadrant of the buttock and the pellet is inserted and the small incision is then steri-stripped closed. The hormone slowly releases over a three month period.

Wellness Visit

If you don’t feel like you are struggling with hormone imbalance but want to take a look into what vitamins your body is lacking, your adrenal function, thyroid health, or get a jumpstart on looking at lab values that cause cardiovascular disease or diabetes we can do that too! After evaluating your labs, we will come up with a plan that includes supplements and lifestyle modifications that will help you stay healthier longer! I do still require my patients to have a primary care provider to manage chronic problems.

How Does It Work?

The initial consultation will go over your medical history and discuss the symptoms that you are experiencing. We will order lab work to assess hormone levels, electrolytes, thyroid, vitamin levels, adrenal function, cortisol, insulin, and cholesterol along with anything else we see fit.
At this visit we review your lab work and go over the customized plan that I have created. This includes possible bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, recommended supplementations, and discuss different lifestyle modifications to get you back to feeling you again.
A typical plan includes a phone call visit in 4 weeks to discuss how things are going, answer any questions you may have, and adjust dosing as we see fit. Three months after beginning BHRT and recommended supplements we will get an updated set of labs and meet again to discuss progress. Over the course of 6 months, we will work together to fine tune your plan of care and settle on the right dosages to get you feeling the best version of yourself! Once we achieve optimal levels, we will typically then meet every 6 months.

Let’s Take a Closer Look!

Estrogen

Estrogen

Not only does a lack of estrogen play a huge role in symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and joint pain. It also plays an integral role in reducing the risk for osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Progesterone

Progesterone

After age 35 a woman’s progesterone level can begin to quickly decline leading to symptoms such as brain fog, mood issues, sleep disturbances, and the inability to lose weight. By replacing this hormone we are able to get your hormones back in balance.

Testosterone

Women need testosterone too! This hormone plays an integral role in maintaining muscle mass (which helps to protect your bones), improved libido, decreased fatigue, and improved hair loss.
Adrenals

Adrenals

The adrenal glands, located on top of each kidney, play a crucial role in the body’s stress response and in maintaining overall health. They produce hormones such as cortisol, which helps regulate metabolism, blood sugar levels, and the body’s response to stress. Along with healthy lifestyle changes and managing stress there are different supplements available that can help to rebuild your adrenal glands.
Thyroid

Thyroid

Thyroid function plays a crucial role in regulating various processes in the body through the production and release of thyroid hormones. Imbalances in thyroid hormone levels can lead to a wide range of symptoms and health problems, affecting various systems and functions in the body.
